Can you use my original Canva artwork?
Yes. The strongest result normally comes from high-resolution individual Canva pages or a high-quality PDF export.
Working from the original pages avoids repeatedly compressing an existing GIF or video and gives us greater control over the photographs, text, colours and animation timing.
Should my Trade Me advert be HTML5 or GIF?
It depends on the advertising product and placement you have booked.
HTML5 generally provides greater control over image quality, transitions and timing, but it is not accepted for every Trade Me placement. We review the supplied specifications before recommending HTML5, GIF, JPG or PNG.
Can you reduce an existing GIF below the file-size limit?
Usually, although the final result depends on the number of frames, animation duration, photographs, gradients, colours and amount of small text.
Where possible, we prefer to rebuild the advertisement from the original high-resolution artwork. This normally provides a much cleaner result than repeatedly compressing an existing GIF.
